BFT ATHOS AC A40 is a robust 230V electromechanical swing gate motor designed for gate leaves measuring up to 4 metres and weighing up to 400 kg. With a 400 mm useful rod stroke, electronic clutch, automatic slowdown and mechanical locking, it is an excellent automation solution for wide residential and commercial swing gates.

The ATHOS AC A40 works with the BFT ALENA SW2 control unit and can be used for single- or double-leaf swing gate automation. Its long-stroke design makes it particularly suitable for wider gate leaves where the shorter ATHOS AC A25 is not appropriate.

The ATHOS AC A40 uses a 230V electromechanical motor with approximately 280 W power consumption. Its irreversible transmission provides dependable opening and closing together with mechanical locking when the automation is stationary.

BFT ALENA SW2 Control Unit

The ATHOS AC A40 works with the BFT ALENA SW2 control unit, which can manage compatible single- or double-leaf 230V swing gate automation.

Electronic Clutch and Automatic Slowdown

The operator uses an electronic clutch for force management and supports slowdown during gate movement. Correct adjustment helps provide smoother operation as the gate approaches the end of its travel.

Photocell safety sensors and other appropriate safety devices should also be installed and correctly tested as part of the complete automatic gate system.

Working-Time Travel Management

The BFT ATHOS AC A40 specification uses working-time-based travel management. It should not be described as having conventional integrated opening and closing limit switches.

Correct mechanical gate stops and proper programming of the ALENA SW2 control unit are therefore important for reliable operation and accurate gate travel.

Manual Release During Power Failure

If electrical power is unavailable, the ATHOS AC A40 can be manually disengaged using its triangle-key release mechanism. This allows the swing gate to be manually opened or closed when required.

Choose the ATHOS AC A25 for shorter gate leaves up to approximately 2.5 metres where its higher stated weight capacity is suitable. Choose the ATHOS AC A40 when a longer actuator stroke is required for wider gate leaves up to approximately 4 metres.

Do not select a swing gate motor using weight alone. Gate leaf length, hinge condition, wind loading, gate construction and mounting geometry are equally important.
