The PD132 detects a vehicle through an inductive loop installed beneath the road surface. When a vehicle enters the loop detection area, the detector identifies the change in loop inductance and provides an output to the connected barrier, gate controller or access control system.

The PD132 includes Automatic Sensitivity Boost. Permanent Presence Vehicle Detection

How Does the Nortech PD132 Work?

An insulated cable is installed in a loop beneath the road surface and connected to the PD132 detector. The detector continuously monitors the inductance of this loop.

When a metal vehicle enters the loop area, the electrical characteristics of the loop change. The PD132 detects this change and activates the appropriate relay output, allowing the connected gate, barrier or access-control system to respond according to its configuration.

Single-Channel Vehicle Loop Detector

The PD132 is a single-channel detector, meaning it monitors one inductive vehicle loop. It is suitable where one detection zone is required.

For applications requiring two independent loop channels in one detector, a dual-channel detector such as the Nortech PD232 may be considered according to the system design.

PD132 Installation & Loop Setup

Correct inductive-loop installation is essential for reliable vehicle detection. Loop dimensions, number of turns, feeder cable arrangement, road construction, nearby metalwork and spacing from adjacent loops can all affect detector performance.
